Jerash, only half an hour drive north of Amman, was known as the “Bompee of the East” Jerash is believed to have been one of the stops of Jesus way to Jerusalem. There are grand ruins: Temples of Artemis and Zeus, a vast Roman forum, Hadrians Triumphal Arch and a mile-long street of columns.
